NCB Now: Children to talk about cancer

1 min read
Children and their families who are affected by cancer will have the chance to share their experiences at a series of one-day consultations organised by NCB, to be held in England during May and June.

The consultations, commissioned by the National Collaborating Centre for Cancer, aim to inform the development of NICE guidance on cancer services for children and adolescents. Taking place in Birmingham (22 May), London (2 June), Bristol (5 June) and Leeds (12 June), the events will involve simultaneous sessions with children aged from two to 14, their parents or carers and siblings.

Facilitated by professionals from NCB's participation, research and family support units, as well as by young NCB members, the sessions will include discussions, role-plays and creative exercises to establish responses.

Children and young people will be able to discuss questions such as where they would prefer to receive care, the continuity of care and support they receive from professionals, and the standard of communication, information and education that they are offered.
