NCB NOW: NCB relaunches media guide on care

1 min read
To coincide with Taking Care, the BBC season exploring the lives of children and young people in care, NCB is relaunching its guide to challenging negative media images of looked-after young people.

Let's Get Positive: challenging negative stereotypes of young people in care aims to support local authorities and others in promoting positive, accurate stories that reflect the ambition and achievements of young people in care.

It contains advice on developing a media campaign, including guidance on writing press releases and involving young people in interviews. It also includes good practice case studies and a care information kit for journalists.

Accompanying the guide is a 10-minute video, We're Proper People: the truth about young people in care, made by and featuring young people in care, who talk frankly about the need to change public perceptions.
