Our best practice: Parent support groups
"The introduction this year of parent support groups to run parallelwith Pyramid Clubs for children will further enhance the outcomes of ourwork with quiet, withdrawn or socially anxious children.
"By the end of this academic year we plan to reach the parents of around800 children across the UK. By inviting parents to be partners with usin supporting their children's needs, we expect to bolster our work withmore withdrawn children.
"During the clubs children are encouraged to develop practical andsocial skills, discuss their feelings, experience success and, in theprocess, improve their self-esteem and resilience, enabling them to findtheir own voice. Parents will now learn what can be done at home toencourage this work.
