Mencap - National centre for early intervention

Our best practice "Mencap is leading a feasibility project to set up a national centre for early intervention. This project is part of the new SEN Strategy 'Removing barriers to achievement' published by the Department for Education and Skills in February 2004.

The national centre would improve access to a range of early interventions for children with all types of disability and raise the profile of early intervention. A new web site www.earlyintervention.org.uk is hosting this project.

Mencap is building an alliance of organisations, parents, practitioners and researchers who want to make a real difference to the lives of very young disabled children and their families. The centre would provide a focus for information, practice, research and training. We are consulting widely and there are a series of events for parents and an on-line survey to gather their views."
