Sally Whitaker, deputy chief executive of NCB, opened the policy discussion and was joined by Dwynwen Stepien, head of the Early Childhood Unit, and Lisa Payne, principal policy officer. The Government Office for London was represented by Lucia Partridge, early years and childhood policy lead. Stepien also led an interactive policy discussion with delegates, intended to provoke debate and creative thinking on commissioning, best practice and working from evidence. The answers to these questions will contribute to how NCB thinks, responds and works in the future.
These events are part of a move towards building a community of practitioners and policymakers within NCB's membership that can feed into policy and practice. The events will be central to this collaboration, which will be facilitated further through the new membership and online forums.
