Contact a Family

Our best practice: MakingContact.org

"There's nothing more isolating for families whose child has a rarecondition, or disability, than not knowing anyone else in the samesituation.

"That's why in July 2004 we launched MakingContact.org, a unique website that links parents with disabled children in confidence, enablingthem to swap tips and advice, and provide mutual support. The web sitehas a worldwide reach, increasing the probability of individuals linkingwith others affected by the same condition.

"Parents or disabled adults logging onto the site can see at a glancewhether their condition is listed, and can register for free.

"MakingContact.org already has almost 2,000 members and the site is nowbeing translated into a number of community languages." - MarkRobertson, national information manager
