NCB Now: Healthy Care in North Lincolnshire

Members of North Lincolnshire Healthy Care Programme include the looked-after children's nurse, teenage pregnancy co-ordinator, drugs agency worker, youth service and arts and culture Connexions worker, as well as representatives from children's services, including foster carers and care leavers.

The Be Healthy Turn, the Curve Group and Healthy Action Group chaired byhealth staff, provides a multi-agency approach to improving health andwellbeing outcomes for children in care and care leavers. Thepartnership also has close links to the employability scheme forchildren in care and care leavers.

The partnership carried out its healthy care audit, and developed anaction plan. Work has now been re-audited for a further year.

Annual performance assessments have shown improved recording of smokingand substance misuse, and a Mini Choices Clinic and drug and alcoholservice at the Children in Care Support Centre have beenimplemented.

A fast-track referral service to children and adolescent mental healthservices (CAMHS) and therapeutic services has been developed, and allchildren and young people in care now have an individual healthplan.
