The briefing is being disseminated to Healthy Care partnerships andothers with funding from the Fostering Network, which is carrying out anational participation programme with looked-after young parents.
The briefing looks at how a targeted programme to support looked-afteryoung people and care leavers will help them in caring for theirchildren.
It identifies what is known about young parents in the care system,describes their experiences and needs and gives examples of how HealthyCare can support them.
Helen Chambers from NCB's Children's Development Department said: "Manyyoung people make a positive choice to become parents. However,looked-after young people may not have the same emotional and practicalsupport as others. That is why professionals need to work together tomeet their needs."
