NCB Now: Healthy Care to develop further

1 min read
NCB has secured funding from the DfES to further develop the Healthy Care Programme, which promotes the health and wellbeing of looked-after children.

The programme, which supports local healthy care partnerships, aims to ensure the care setting provides looked-after children with access to healthcare and treatment, and the life skills needed to maintain their own health and wellbeing.

The Healthy Care team now seeks to ensure the programme is integrated in existing networks and strategic policy development. Four regional government offices - in the North East, South West, South East and East Midlands - will work with NCB on the project.

"Building on pilots in the North East, we are developing multi-agency partnerships to implement the action plan for children. This includes employment, education and leisure opportunities for looked-after children," said John Brown, regional development worker, Children Government Office, North East.
