NCB Now: Healthy Care web site relaunched

1 min read
The Healthy Care Programme web site now has a fresh new look and a wealth of resources for those working to promote the health and wellbeing of looked-after children and young people.

Arts and Leisure, a new section of the site, is devoted to promoting"creative participation" - a central element of both the Healthy Careprogramme and the Government's recent white paper Care Matters: Time forChange. The web site gives evidence of how arts, creativity and leisurecan contribute to a child's health and wellbeing by developingself-expression, confidence and skills and being fun.

The site also shows creative ways that local authorities are engagingwith the arts and leisure services to promote the wellbeing oflooked-after children and young people. An NCB project, funded by ArtsCouncil England, mapped arts and creative activities of children in carein three different regions. Examples of these and other innovativepractices developed by Healthy Care partnerships are viewable on the website and were cited in Care Matters: Time for Change.
