Neighbourhood renewal plan for NI

The Directorate for Social Development in Northern Ireland has published a consultation document containing proposals to implement the Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy. The Minister for Social Development, John Spellar, said it was unacceptable that one in seven people live in deprived conditions in Northern Ireland, and that neighbourhood renewal would offer children the chance to fulfil their potential. The deadline for responses is 26 March 2004.

Children asked for their views on the BBC

The Department for Media, Culture and Sport has announced that it will ask children and young people for their views on the BBC as part of a major review of its future. Young people will be able to attend town hall meetings in the regions, and can put their views directly to the Minister. A "user-friendly" version of the core consultation document has also been developed in partnership with the Children's Rights Alliance for England. The deadline for responses is 31 March 2004.
