NCB Now: Book helps schools address inclusion

1 min read
"Inclusion is about everyone having a fair chance."

This comment, from a 15-year-old young woman, is taken from a new NCB book which demonstrates how personal, social and health education (PSHE) and citizenship can be used to promote inclusion and reduce inequalities, thus meeting the needs of more vulnerable and marginalised pupils.

Addressing Inclusion and Inequalities through PSHE and Citizenship by Simon Blake and Sue Plant looks at the importance of including young people and their parents in developing effective policy.

The publication also provides practical guidance on planning, monitoring and evaluating the curriculum.

"PSHE and citizenship provide a curriculum focus for addressing inclusion and inequalities in school," said Simon Blake, assistant director of children's development at NCB.
