NCB Now: SRE assessment toolkit launched

1 min read
A toolkit published by NCB offers clear and practical advice on assessment and evaluation of sex and relationships education (SRE) in a wide range of settings.

Developed with education and health services in Camden and Islington, the toolkit, Assessment, evaluation and sex and relationships education, is aimed at teachers, youth and community workers, learning mentors and community nurses, as well as trainers and consultants in the field.

"Assessment and evaluation play a key role in effective sex and relationships education, but they are currently underdeveloped within schools and community work, as Ofsted has identified," said co-author Simon Blake, who is assistant director of children's development at NCB. "We are delighted that Camden and Islington have taken a lead on this issue and commissioned us to develop this practical resource." Now available nationally, the toolkit includes an overview of best practice in sex and relationships education and a summary of the theory and practice of assessment and evaluation.
