NCB Now: Assessment is key to PSHE, says NCB

A recent Ofsted report on sex and relationships education and personal, social and health education (PSHE) has highlighted the need to improve assessment of learning requirements and evaluation of teaching.

A training course held at NCB on 16 November enabled participants toconsider how best to meet this need.

The course provided an opportunity to reflect on existing practice andidentify practical strategies to address gaps in provision. "Despiteevidence showing that assessment and evaluation are crucial in ensuringeffective teaching and learning, both processes are underdeveloped,"said Simon Blake, NCB.

Participants each received a free copy of a new Assessment, Evaluationand PSHE briefing, which is part of NCB's Spotlight series, and a copyof Assessment, Evaluation and Sex and Relationships Education, abest-selling toolkit by Simon Blake and Stella Muttock.

- Future dates for the training session are planned for the new year.- Contact 020 7843 1906 for more information.- For copies of the toolkit call 020 7843 6029 or emailwww.ncb-books.org.uk.
