My Week - This right-on gal needs more resilience

Monday: Off to visit Living Options this morning. It is a Devon organisation that works with adults with physical and sensory impairments, including deaf people. We're meeting to discuss how we can work together to meet the needs of teenagers going through the transition to adulthood.

The evening is spent with a group of deaf young people, who are working with our participation team to look at ways of ensuring that policy makers hear their views. They want to make a DVD that shows their experiences of discrimination for use as a training tool with workers and service planners. I leave feeling buoyed - I've missed the direct work with young people so much since leaving Barnardo's.

Tuesday: Attend a meeting of the Teenage Pregnancy Partnership Communications Strategy group. We talk about ways of challenging the negative stereotypes of young parents in the media and plan campaign work for the coming year.
