My Week: Discrimination remains all around us

Monday: Have a great start to the week. I meet the head of our Traveller achievement service to discuss how Traveller History Month is progressing.

We are also working on a community-cohesion-project funding bid, as there is work to be done in local communities to reduce tensions following the announcement that 300 pitches need to be found in the county.

Tuesday: Meet the South West co-ordinator of the Anti-Bullying Alliance. We discuss how our strategy for Devon can develop the best online reporting system. We decide to develop a pilot in Exeter, focusing on reporting of racist and homophobic bullying, in preparation for the new mandatory guidance on reporting of all bullying incidents that kicks in next year.

Email Martin Narey, my old boss at Barnardo's, after reading in CYP Now that he's among the early favourites to become the next Children's Commissioner for England. We have a brief online chat. And no, I can't tell you what his response to my question was.
