My Week - I could get used to dog's dinners in Devon

1 min read
Monday: Am up early, rubbing sore muscles from moving to Devon on Saturday - was a third floor flat such a good idea with so many boxes?

My first day at work passes in a blur of new faces and induction. Everyone is really friendly and welcoming despite my initial bunny-in-the-headlights awe. But by mid-afternoon I'm writing lists and getting the IT stuff sorted out and it feels better.

I arrive home and turn on the oven. My new flat is plunged into darkness as the electricity blows. Can't find the fuse box so spend my first night with a candle and cheese roll for company.

Tuesday: Attend a Devon children's trust human resources managers meeting, which is a mix of statutory and voluntary sector representatives. Agencies are keen to work together to develop a joint children's workforce approach while maintaining their own identities. We talk about the need for a consistent approach to equality and diversity issues such as reporting and recording. I think I am going to be busy.
