Back Page: My Week - Eddie Murphy proves truly inspirational

SUNDAY - Awake to brilliant sunshine. My flat overlooks the sea, and after so much snow and high winds it feels like the first day of spring. Go for a walk along the beach and to a car boot sale. Before long, the whole of the seafront is awash with families and children digging in the sand. I feel so very lucky - and it's only February.

MONDAY - I am immensely irritated by the media frenzy over this "father at 13" issue, especially since the story has become even more sensationalist as two other young men claim that they too could be the father. Again, young people are getting a bashing and the story is being used as an excuse to slate the government's teenage pregnancy strategy.

I wonder if anyone has thought about what sex and relationships education either of these two young people may have had - or more likely, not had. Something that the teenage pregnancy unit fought to be made compulsory for a long time.
