The agreement, which has now been ratified by the council's chief executive, enables all of the city's youth workers to be employed on Joint Negotiating Committee terms and conditions.
The council had been appointing new employees on standard local authority terms and conditions and had intended to place all of its staff on these terms as part of a restructuring of the youth service (YPN, 18-24 January, p3).
The union warned that this breached the national agreement between youth work unions and employers and left youth workers with less leave time and less favourable salary increments.
Its campaign led to a ballot for industrial action and a march through Liverpool.
