Having carried out the first strike action in its history, the Community and Youth Workers' Union now recommends that its members accept the deal hammered out at the latest meeting of the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC).
Both sides will claim a victory, although in this case there seems to be more friction between two of the unions involved than there is between unions and employers (see p4).
Unison voted against the deal at the JNC meeting and claimed the CYWU's action represented a "sellout". The CYWU says the deal will lead to a restructuring of JNC pay scales that will bring many benefits to its members.
