Youth Services: Three per cent pay settlement leaves some unions dismayed

1 min read

The agreement gives youth workers a three per cent pay rise over the next year and establishes a new pay grade framework. However, both Unison and further education union NATFHE rejected the deal.

But Doug Nicholls, general secretary of the Community and Youth Workers' Union (CYWU), welcomed the offer. He said the union was advising members to vote in favour of the proposal at a ballot to be held over the next 10 days.

The agreement follows strike action by the union on 27 April.

Four new pay grades have been created under the deal and all new and existing youth work posts will be reassessed to match the new grades.
