Northamptonshire: Union to act over redundancy plans

Union members were to meet Unison representatives on Tuesday to discuss a joint protest against plans to make most of the county's local authority youth workers redundant (YPN, 1-7 March, p2).

The union also plans to send out ballot papers in Liverpool, before a rally to protest at plans to wipe out JNC terms and conditions for youth workers.

Last week's lifting of Northamptonshire's budget injunction gives the council the go-ahead to end local authority delivery of youth services.

Northamptonshire County Council is still prevented from proceeding with plans to close services for disabled people pending a judicial review.
