Letters: Hughes bids a fond farewell

1 min read Letters
It has been an absolute pleasure and a real privilege to have spent these last four years of my ministerial career at the Department for Children, Schools and Families, working to drive forward a transformation in the support, advice and services available to children and families - the effects of which, I hope, will continue to be felt for generations to come.

As we set out in The Children's Plan, I want all young people to have the best opportunities whatever their circumstances. We now have a "Sure Start generation" of children regularly attending one of the 3,000 centres open across England, and through projects such as Myplace we are building a network of services that reflect what young people want and need, opening them up to new experiences so that they each can become a valued member of their own community.

Today's young people have so much to offer, and it is up to all of us to ensure they can reach their full potential. I have very much appreciated your continued support for this and hard work highlighting the real issues that are important to frontline professionals working on the ground and the impact these issues have on children's lives.
