At the conference, I was specifically told by a provider that they had employers and learners lined up to start 16-18 apprenticeships and were told there was no money so were turning them away. My retort was that "if this were the case it would be madness".
Where providers come forward with an employer and a 16- to 18-year-old and the provider has no quality issues we would fund them. This is absolutely the case for the remainder of this academic year - and we believe it will be the case for the following year.
