Even as someone wholly committed to inter-agency responsibility for the welfare of children, I feel your editorial was rather unfair towards schools (CYP Now, 28 May-3 June).
Schools are subject to a wide range of expectations. They cannot be expected to do everything for everyone, particularly when the delivery of attainment targets is such a significant measure of their effectiveness. Of course schools should recognise and, if necessary, challenge influences from children's wider lives that undermine their wellbeing. But there are only so many hours in the day and school is often not the place where the most vulnerable children are to be found.
