For the past few months I have been working with Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, arts organisation All Change, and Yemisi Blake from the Southbank Centre's Emerging Artists in Residence to produce a performance piece for Shoreditch Festival for my Gold Arts Award.

While I was working closely alongside Blake, I learned a lot about different ways of writing and how to construct a poem from just a few words. Because of the skills and support that I have received, I am now hoping to take my writing further to write an autobiography. There have been some challenges - like the fact that I have a young child who also needs a lot of my time and attention - so I have had to work around that.

My piece Wise Words was a combined arts performance by young parents about sayings that have been passed down to them that shaped their lives. The festival was nerve-racking at first as I was co-hosting but once we got started it went really well. All the performances were brilliant.
