
This led to a breakdown in communication within the family and I decided my only option was to run away from home, so I left. I stayed at many different friends' houses, which was to avoid sleeping rough, really. This was very uncomfortable and scary because I hadn't thought about the practical things, such as having food and clean clothes.
I was temporarily housed by the council, which referred me to Centrepoint when I was 17. At this point, I was addicted to cannabis, had low self-esteem and no hope for the future, but Centrepoint helped me address each issue with my one-to-one support and development worker.
