Inside story: Women Like Us

What it is: A job matching and coaching service that targets mothers at school gates and in playgrounds.

Goals: To support women who have had children to find work that usestheir skills and fits around their families.

Funding: Start-up funding from the Department of Trade and Industry'sEnterprise Promotion Fund, with further funding from Camden Council andthe Fast Forward grant scheme.

Currently funded by the Association of London Government.

Women Like Us sees itself as more like a dating agency than arecruitment agency. It actively targets mothers through schools, withthe aim of supporting those who want to work to find jobs that suitthem.

At the same time, the not-for-profit enterprise helps employers find theright staff. The service, which currently operates in four Londonboroughs, was set up by Karen Mattison and Emma Stewart, who both havechildren.
