Inside Story: Sure Start Goes Wild

1 min read
What it is: An initiative to educate young families and dovetail the philosophies of the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust and Sure Start.

Goals: To involve children in local wildlife and biodiversity education

Funding: Just under 10,000 from Sure Start

Contact: Sure Start Goes Wild, 01642 759 900

The Government's Sure Start initiative is going wild in one area, and it will stay that way for at least a year. Within those 12 months children and their families will visit nature reserves, enjoy bird watching on the North Yorkshire Moors and look for butterflies along the Redcar coast.

Sure Start Goes Wild took off in April when Tees Valley Wildlife Trust's lifelong learning programme was asked to provide activities by Sure Start.

The latter pays for family outings, trust membership and education kits.
