When Wigan Sure Start found that more than a quarter of families wholived in Hindley weren't using their local services it decided toact.
As a result, Right from the Start was set up to help families withunder-fives access services and identify how to make them moreaccessible. Laura Lovell, the project's co-ordinator, says her team is aSure Start outreach programme with a difference.
"Not a lot of outreach work specifically supports families in accessingservices. We use a targeted approach using social services and healthdatabases to focus on families who are vulnerable and struggle to accessservices."
