From its humble beginnings in the early 70s as a low-key communityproject in Leicester, Home-Start has grown rapidly. Today the charity'snational body represents and supports the UK's 337 local Home-Starts.Its army of 11,000 volunteers offers one-to-one support to parents of60,000 children under five-years-old every year.
The scheme has expanded to take in countries such as Sri Lanka, Russia,Israel and Australia. It also helps families connected to the Britishmilitary based in Germany and Cyprus.
