What it is: Two programmes to help parents of disabled children

Goal: Both programmes sit within Scope's early years remit and aim tohelp parents work with their children and develop a positive outlookabout their child's prospects

Schools for Parents are aimed at pre-school children with cerebral palsyor other motor learning difficulties and their parents or carers. Thereare 30 of the projects across England and Wales.

The projects are based in a variety of settings from children's centresto church halls. Scope manages the training of staff to run the schools,which teach parents to help their child learn ways of moving andcontrolling their bodies and give them the skills needed for eating,walking, dressing, communicating and playing independently.
