What it is: A scheme at St John's pre-school group in Toxteth, Liverpool, to create a "magic carpet" on which children can travel "through" the internet

Many of the children who attend St John's pre-school have not had the opportunity to travel outside of Liverpool, so staff wanted to find a way to help children learn about the wider world.

Emily Taylor, who works at the pre-school, conceived the idea of a magic carpet while watching Aladdin. "It seemed like a nice idea to let children use their imagination and have the carpet fly. With moving pictures and articles they'll be able to experience more than simply through books," she said.
