Young people at risk of exclusion often can't join groups to help dealwith problems until they are 13.

But in Hanworth, children as young as eight have the chance to work outtheir problems thanks to a programme by Hounslow Action for Youth.

The success of the programme, which runs four evenings a week, wasrecently evaluated by research consultants the Mackinnon Partnership.Improvements have been dramatic. According to consultant CharlotteJones, school attendance has doubled in many cases and no young personinvolved has been referred to the local anti-social behaviour actiongroup.
