1 min read

What it is: A project to provide water in Yorkshire primary schools

Goals: To ensure that primary school children have ready access to fresh

water to combat a range of problems, including poor concentration and

obesity

Funding: 750,000 from Yorkshire Water

Contact: Louise Bradbury, 01274 692 034

An initiative to combat dehydration is now in its fourth year, with children in 350 primary schools getting the message about the importance of drinking water. The scheme was kick-started by Yorkshire Water and chosen as a beacon of best practice in the Government's Healthy Living Blueprint for Schools.

As well as having water coolers installed in schools, the Cool Schools initiative teaches primary school children how important water is for health via rapper S-Cool, who visits schools to deliver his message, getting children to sing and dance along to the H2O song.
