Few things make boys swell with pride more than pulling on a football kit to represent their school. But many children in the most deprived parts of the country never get to experience this feeling simply because their schools can't afford it.

This was the case at John Keble Church of England primary school in the London borough of Brent, until Brent Neighbourhood Renewal Team met its 500 kit costs.

Neighbourhood renewal teams were set up last year to stimulate regeneration in the most deprived parts of the country.
