Backed by 300,000 from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, theHealthy Children's Project helps voluntary projects in the LondonBorough of Southwark working to improve children's health.
The project supports others by giving out grants and by running trainingcourses. Generally the grants, which range from 2,000 to 10,000, go to voluntary groups working with children and young peoplefrom birth to 18 that are often overlooked by local authorityservices.
"We're looking at supporting groups that have difficulty gettingmainstream services," says Jacqueline Bell, the project's co-ordinator."These tend to be 'hard-to-reach' groups, often children from Black andethnic minority backgrounds."
