In Practice: Up & running - Barton Hill goes green

Plans for an innovative green primary school and children's centre in Bristol were agreed last month. The 4m project will see a new building replace Barton Hill Primary School and a nearby nursery and infant school.

The design uses natural materials and recycled newspaper insulation.

An out-of-school club in West Yorkshire moved to a new building afterlanding a 5,000 grant. Thorner Out of School Children'sActivities gained the cash from the Biffaward grants scheme.

Butterstile Primary School has been chosen as the site for one of eightnew children's centres in Bury. Local families are being consulted.

A host of pantomime characters turned out to celebrate the officialopening of St Martin's Garden Children's Centre in Bath on 12January.

The centre, which is on the same site as St Martin's Garden PrimarySchool, includes a breakfast and after-school club, child and familyhealth services and a base for childminders.
