Five new children's centres opened in Wakefield last month. Two are in Castleford, with others in Normanton, Wakefield and Knottingley.

All offer childcare, health and family support services and will belinked to specialist services through area teams.

Hob Moor Children's Centre in York celebrates its official opening on 27April. The new 7.5m facility includes Hob Moor Oaks School andHob Moor Community Primary School.

The new nursery at St Ives Children's Centre will open next month. Itwill be run by Little Seahorses Childcare and will offer full andsessional places plus before- and after-school clubs for St Ives InfantSchool.

A new breakfast and after-school club has opened at Newton PrimarySchool in Chester. Chester MP Christine Russell opened the EarlyworldKids Club last month.

Families in Lewes, East Sussex, are to benefit from a new children'scentre in a local YMCA building. Lewes Council is working with EastSussex Council and Sure Start on the plans.
