In Practice: Up & running - Innovation at Domino

An innovative development that includes a children's centre and flats for key workers has opened in Bermondsey, south London. Domino House boasts a nursery, playground, community facilities and a job centre. The project is a partnership between Southwark Council, Hyde Housing Association and two construction companies.

Former Carlisle United goalkeeper Tony Elliot helped launch anafter-school club at Bowness-on-Solway Primary School in December. Theclub is funded by Sure Start, the Community Foundation and CumbriaCounty Council.

A range of professionals moved to the new "family corner" at CliftonChildren's Centre in York at the end of November. The corner is home toa multi-agency team that includes family support and Sure Start workers,health and mental health workers and job centre staff.

Designs for a new school and children's centre in Rye were unveiled byEast Sussex County Council last month. The 6m development willreplace Tilling Green Infant School and The Freda Gardham PrimarySchool.

Swansea's first children's centre has opened in Penlan. It cost justunder 1.3m and includes childcare, an adventure playground andtoy library.
