In Practice: Cash in hand - Supergrounds

Supergrounds is a community programme funded by the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Group, aimed at transforming school playgrounds.

Schools must be nominated by an RBS employee to be eligible. The scheme, managed in partnership with the charity Learning Through Landscapes, was launched in 2004 and has seen 450 schools receive grants and expert help to revamp their playgrounds. RBS has announced a further £3m for the scheme up to 2010. Schools receive a resource pack to help them think about how to make the most of their grounds and involve pupils in the process, as well as a £4,000 award and four days of professional help.
