In Practice: Cash in hand - Local Food

Local Food is a 50m grant programme for projects that boost community access to locally grown food.

It is part of the Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces programme and managed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. The programme offers small grants of £2,000 to £10,000 and main grants of £10,000 to £300,000. Those applying for more than £20,000 must provide match funding. Projects must fit one of five themes, which include growing and distributing local food. Successful projects include an after-school cooking club at Castle High School in Dudley. There are no deadlines for applications but projects must be completed by March 2014.
