Housing support for ex-offenders

1 min read Youth Justice
Teenagers leaving Chelmsford Young Offender Institution will get more help with housing after homelessness charity the Depaul Trust received a 12,500 pound grant.

The cash is the second grant given to the charity's resettlement project Outside Link by the Jack Petchey Foundation. The project has already helped almost 500 young offenders find housing and resettle in the community after leaving custody.

Paul Marriott, the Depaul Trust's chief executive, said many young people are released from prison with nowhere to stay and go straight back into the lifestyle they had before they were sentenced.

"By ensuring young people have somewhere safe to stay on release and the continued support of trained staff in the community we can provide a different, more positive path for these young people," he said.
