The move, announced on Monday (1 October) will see Catalyst NE folded into Depaul to create a strong presence in the North Tyneside area of the country.
Paul Marriott, chief executive of the Depaul Trust, said Catalyst NE would continue to run until the end of the year, when it would close for good. He said there were no redundancies from either charity.
"Some people say there are too many homeless charities generally and it means that in North Tyneside, where there were two charities working with homeless young people, there is now one," he said.
"We can take forward a much more co-ordinated programme centred around trying to tackle youth homelessness. It will be one voice in the community and speaking to local government."
