Positive steps for ex-offenders

Youth Justice
A 300,000 project is to help young ex-offenders across the UK turn their lives around.

The New Horizons project, run by environmental charity Groundwork, has been given the money by youth volunteering charity v to provide work experience opportunities for ex-offenders aged 16 to 25.

The young adults will be given access to activities ranging from improving the local environment to constructing environmentally friendly social housing so they can gain experience and skills to help them secure jobs.

New Horizons will also provide accredited training so the skills gained by the young people are recognised by would-be employers. In addition, the project will offer mentoring support and personal development plans to help the young people involved build their confidence and raise their aspirations.
