Instead, it looks set to call on commissioners of children's services towork more closely with providers to share costs. Responses to theIndependent Review of Children's Palliative Care Services were publishedlast week.
The review is due to conclude mid-May. It is expected to influence howthe Government plans to fund the whole sector. Only children's hospiceshave received funding - a cash-injection of 27m last summer - butthis will only last for three years.
The response shows strong support for a clear England-wide strategy forchildren's palliative care and for health authorities to be required bylaw to develop dedicated strategies.
Lizzie Chambers, chief executive of the Association of Children'sPalliative Care, said the sector was lobbying to be included as part ofa public service agreement target for children with disabilities in theComprehensive Spending Review.
