Health news: Healthy Eating - School introduces food loyalty card

A loyalty card that encourages children to eat breakfast has been launched by a focus group of pupils and caterers at a school in Manchester.

The group, one of six set up to replace the school council at Southlands High School in Manchester, is offering students a free hot drink and toasted bagel for every six breakfasts logged on their card.

Sarah Penman, the teacher who chairs the group, attended by 10 pupils each Monday, said the involvement of the school's chef and catering staff had made a huge difference.

"The children can see all their suggestions being considered so when they make suggestions they happen."
