Health News: Healthy eating - Restaurants fail school meal tests

Ten of the UK's biggest family restaurant chains are serving children's meals that fail to meet the new school dinner standards, according to a Soil Association and Organix report.

Meals are high in salt, sugar and fat levels, and offer few fresh fruitsor vegetables, it said.

Restaurants in the study include Beefeater, Garfunkel's, Brewers Fayre,Cafe Rouge, Harvester, Hungry Horse, Little Chef, Nando's, Pizza Hut andTGI Friday's.

Whitbread, which owns three of the chains on the list, said: "We haveincreased the healthier meal options on all menus, particularlychildren's."
