71.1 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 1998 (46.6 in England)

- 49.2 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 2005 (41.1 inEngland)

- 7% of live births weighed less than 2,500 grams in 2004 (7.6 per centin England)

- 3.5 infant deaths under one week per 1,000 women in 2004 (five inEngland)

The conception rate in the London borough has fallen by 31 per cent.

Innovative action taken by the borough includes a school theatre projectthat encourages young people to look at the importance ofcommunication.

Young mums have also visited schools as part of a peer education projectto talk about the realities of being a young parent.
