The conception rate for teenagers in Staffordshire has dropped by 20 percent since figures for the teenage pregnancy strategy were firstcollected in 1998. But the largest fall came in 1999, before work on theteenage pregnancy strategy had started. Figures dropped from 43.2conceptions per 1,000 girls to 38. They then fluctuated around thislevel until 2003, when they fell again to their current level.
